I wanted to make a remix of the Saturday Night Live character Stefon. The remix was entirely experimental and fun, it really isn’t supposed to make sense or have some deeper meaning. My inspiration was the artist Pogo, who creates new songs by editing the soundtracks of movies.
I used noises from the Stefon videos to create the various sound effects along with piano music from a Ludovico Einaudi remix of Andare. The video clips are all spliced from various music videos, the actual SNL skit, a skit from America’s Got Talent, and Yo Gabba Gabba. I wanted to make the video correlate to the wild nights Stefon describes in his skit.
I put many hours into this remix, especially the sound which was created in Garage Band. The movie was created in iMovie. Some of the sounds in the remix are so heavily edited from the original source that it sounds nothing like what it came from, it is essentially a new creation.
